What do you help with?

My focus is teens, college students, and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, chronic stress and adjustment, substance use, and eating or body-image concerns, along with grief and loss. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as my core approach, plus cognitive processing therapy and motivational interviewing where they fit. I don't currently offer specialized OCD treatment, and for eating concerns that need medical monitoring I'll help you build the right team.

Do you take my insurance?

I'm currently in-network with Cigna, Aetna, Optum, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for Colorado-based clients. If you have a different plan, I'm considered out-of-network — but I'm happy to provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. We can talk through what makes the most sense for you on the free consultation.

How much does therapy cost?

Fees depend on the type of session and how you're paying, so I'd rather walk you through the specifics directly than list numbers that might not apply to you. We'll go over all of it on the free 15-minute consultation, so you'll know exactly what to expect before committing to anything.

Do you see clients in person or online?

Both. I see clients in person in Boulder, Colorado, and I also offer telehealth (secure video) sessions. A lot of clients mix the two depending on their week — whatever's easiest and most comfortable for you.

Which states can you see me in?

In-person sessions are for Colorado clients. For telehealth, I'm PSYPACT-authorized, which means I can work with clients located in 38 states across the country. If you're not sure whether your state is included, just ask and I'll check for you.

Is what my teen tells you confidential from me as a parent?

Generally, yes — and that privacy is what makes therapy work for teens. For your teen to open up and make real progress, they need to trust that this is their space. That said, you're never left in the dark: we set clear expectations about confidentiality at the start, and if there's ever a concern about your teen's safety, I'll always involve you. We're on the same team.

How do I know if my teen needs therapy?

Some things worth noticing: changes in sleep, sudden shifts in friend groups, withdrawing from family or activities they used to enjoy, secretive behavior, mood swings, or drops in motivation and hygiene. None of these on their own means something is wrong, but if a few show up together — or your gut says something's off — it's worth reaching out. There's no such thing as reaching out too soon.

What happens on the free consultation?

It's a relaxed 15-minute phone or video call. We'll talk about what's bringing you (or your teen) in, I'll explain how I work, and we'll get a feel for whether we're a good fit — no pressure and no commitment to book anything after. It's really just a conversation.

My focus is adolescents, college students, and young adults, roughly ages 15 to 30, which is where I spend most of my time and training. I also work with adults. If you're not sure whether I'm the right fit for your situation, the consultation is a great place to find out.

There's no one-size-fits-all answer — it depends on your goals and what you're working through. Some people come in for a specific concern over a few months; others value having steady support for longer. Sessions are typically weekly or biweekly, and we'll regularly check in on how things are going and what you need.
