Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression are two of the most common categories of psychological impairment experienced by teens and adults alike. Importantly, anxiety and depression can often occur together or they can be difficult to differentiate, especially in teens. For example, social anxiety can look like depression in some cases, given shared symptoms such as social isolation, lack of interest in or avoidance of social activities, and low self-esteem or self-worth. A full diagnostic evaluation is often helpful in order to pin down appropriate diagnos(es) and to guide us in where to begin in therapy and what specific skills or techniques to use.

In addition to diagnostic evaluation, I offer individual therapy for depression and a range of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, performance anxiety, generalized anxiety or worry, panic attacks, and phobias. I do not offer therapy for OCD at this time. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective, research-backed treatment approaches for anxiety disorders and depression and therefore is my go-to in therapy for both adolescents and adults.

You can schedule a diagnostic evaluation or initial therapy session for yourself or your teen using the “Request an Appointment” button at the top of my page.
